I'm always looking for ways to help my clients. In this case, I was searching for a simple way to help one client with Time Management. Time is money. Especially for a small business. To that end, I spent hours (irony noted) looking up articles on the internet and finally settled on a participant guide from the SBA. (www.sba.gov/sites/default/files/files/PARTICIPANT_GUIDE_TIME_MANAGEMENT.pdf) This guide is helpful, but at 22 pages it's a bit lengthy for someone who rarely has a free moment. So here is the Cliff's Notes version.

Create a list of tasks that need to be completed. Categorize the tasks:

1) Strengths and weaknesses

2) Once your have identified your strengths, prioritize the tasks. Add completion dates.

3) Break your weaknesses into tasks you don't like to do, can't do, or shouldn't be doing.

4) Delegate your weaknesses by assigning the tasks to other team members or hire a service provider.

How is delegating time management? By removing the activities that distract you, you can focus your time on what your business needs to grow, the prioritized tasks. You increase the value of the hours you work on your business.
